Peter Valentovič is an internationally acclaimed Slovak conductor and pianist who began his musical career as a pianist and répétiteur. Studying at prestigious institutions in Bratislava, Vienna, and Paris, he earned scholarships for his exceptional artistic talent. He debuted as a conductor at the age of 20 and has since performed on renowned stages worldwide, including La Scala, the Vienna State Opera, and Tonhalle Zürich.
He has collaborated with distinguished artists such as Edita Gruberová and conductor J. E. Gardiner and has performed with leading symphony orchestras across Europe, Japan, China, and South Africa. In Slovakia, he frequently appears at the Slovak National Theatre and with the Slovak Philharmonic. Currently, he serves as Chief Conductor at the National Theatre in Košice.

INTRODUCTION AND CAREER BEGINNINGS
Peter Valentovič started his career as a pianist and répétiteur. He studied at the Bratislava Conservatory under E. Pappová (piano) and J. Karaba (conducting). He refined his piano skills at masterclasses with M. Lapšanský and E. Indjić in Piešťany.
HIGHER EDUCATION AND SCHOLARSHIPS
He continued his studies at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna, where he studied conducting with L. Hager, opera coaching with K. Leitner, and choral conducting with G. Theuring. He was awarded the Viktor Bunzl Special Scholarship and the "Starthilfe" scholarship for achieving top results in entrance exams. He furthered his education at the prestigious Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris under Zsolt Nagy.
BEGINNING OF HIS CONDUCTING CAREER
He conducted his first symphonic concert at the age of 20 (D. Shostakovich: Chamber Symphony) in Portugal and his first opera (W. A. Mozart: The Marriage of Figaro) at 21 in Vienna.
INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION AND COLLABORATIONS
Thanks to his musicality, versatility, and broad repertoire, Peter Valentovič is one of the most sought-after Slovak artists internationally. As a pianist, he performed with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Vienna at prestigious events such as the Salzburg Festival, Wien Modern, and Wiener Festwochen. He also served as répétiteur and assistant to E. Ortner with the Arnold Schönberg Choir in Vienna. In Paris, he was a guest répétiteur at the Opéra Bastille and Théâtre du Châtelet, where he collaborated with renowned conductor J. E. Gardiner.
COLLABORATION WITH EDITA GRUBEROVÁ
A significant part of his career has been his collaboration, both as a pianist and conductor, with Slovak opera diva Edita Gruberová. This partnership brought him to stages such as La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, Zurich Opera, Bavarian State Opera, Frankfurt Opera, Baden-Baden Festspielhaus, Budapest Opera, and various Japanese cities.
COLLABORATIONS WITH INTERNATIONAL OPERA HOUSES
An important aspect of Peter Valentovič’s career is his work with international opera houses. He served as Chorus Master and Conductor at Cape Town Opera (South Africa), Principal Conductor of the State Opera in Istanbul, and Guest Music Assistant and Language Coach for Russian and Czech repertoire at the Vienna State Opera, where he assisted Chief Conductor F. Welser-Möst.

Peter Valentovič is one of the few young Slovak conductors to have performed on prestigious stages such as Tonhalle Zürich, Theater an der Wien, Wiener Konzerthaus, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Berlin, Munich’s Prinzregententheater and Gasteig, Staatsoper Hannover, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Essen Philharmonic, and Prague National Theatre.

In addition to his international career as an opera conductor, Peter Valentovič is invited to conduct leading symphony orchestras in Europe and beyond (Welsh National Orchestra, SWR Symphony Orchestra Baden-Baden, Munich Symphony Orchestra, Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, Dortmund Philharmonic, Nuremberg Philharmonic, Staatskapelle Berlin, Philharmonie Essen, Prague Symphony Orchestra, Czech National Symphony Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, Moravian Philharmonic Olomouc, Haydn Orchestra Bolzano e Trento, Budapest National Philharmonic, New Japan Philharmonic, Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Sapporo Symphony Orchestra). Last year, he made his conducting debut in China with the China Philharmonic Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Xiamen Philharmonic, and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra.
ACTIVITIES IN SLOVAKIA
In Slovakia, he frequently appears at the Slovak National Theatre, where he has directed numerous opera and ballet productions. He regularly collaborates with the Slovak Philharmonic, the Košice State Philharmonic, and the Košice State Theatre. He has also served as Chief Conductor of the Slovak Radio Symphony Orchestra. Currently, Peter Valentovič holds the position of Chief Conductor at the National Theatre in Košice.
